So whether you're a pop culture nerd, media junkie, trollmaster, or the everyday working man/woman, you've probably heard of this new fad called "The Cinnamon Challenge". I actually have a decent amount of friends who had never heard of it before, so don't feel out of the loop if this is the first time you're hearing about it. I only heard about it Monday.
So those of you who don't know what it is might be asking, 'Well, what is the Cinnamon Challenge?" Here's the exact definition given by the site Know Your Meme: "The Cinnamon Challenge is a popular dare game that involves attempting to swallow a tablespoon of cinnamon without vomiting or inhaling the powder. Since the early 2000s, the game has become well known for its extreme difficulty and thousands of videos with people attempting the challenge have been uploaded onto YouTube." Sounds pretty gruesome, right?
Now the trolls, pot-heads, red-necks, and ghettos took hold of this and ... well, I don't even know ran would be an accurate statement. I kid you not, it's been the hottest thing since sliced bread over the past few months. People think it's funny, and in some cases it is. Take GloZell for example.
WARNING: WHAT YOU ARE ABOUT TO SEE MAY BE SHOCKING. IT INVOLVES AN OBNOXIOUS GHETTO WOMAN PREFORMING STUNTS OF SUPREME STUPIDITY! DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME! WE URGE THE SQUEAMISH TO IGNORE THE VIDEO!
Now that that's out of the way, this is probably the funniest version of The Cinnamon Challenge I've ever seen, done by user "GloZell" on YouTube:
Ok, so that is pretty funny. That just goes to show you that you should actually see how something's done if someone dares you to do it. In case you couldn't catch on, she was using a ladle instead of tablespoon. When you do the math, that's at least 4 tablespoons, or 4 times what the challenge calls for.
See, the reason why it's physically impossible to swallow the cinnamon immediately is because of how dry it is. Cinnamon is so dry, it doesn't allow you to produce and place enough saliva in your mouth to swallow the whole teaspoon. So basically, it's like trying to swallow cat litter. The coughing spasm is caused afterward by the cinnamon sticking to your throat and cutting off your source of air, so enough cinnamon at once CAN kill you. GloZell's just lucky enough that she can continue to entertain fans again after that blunder of an attempt. She could have very well been hospitalized from that.
By the way, in case you were wondering, there have been people who died from taking The Cinnamon Challenge...
So the bottom line is, don't do it. It's not a challenge, it's a physical fact; you simply cannot swallow cinnamon immediately. If you don't choke on it, you'll become physically ill, unless you have some strange power to produce excess amounts of saliva in which I want nothing to do with you. Don't be an idiot like our friend GloZell there. Use your brains, please. Don't let the same people who put planking and Charlie Sheen into the spotlight misguide you any longer. It's a trap. The ghetto is ALWAYS a trap, and so are red-necks.
So I figured I'd also take the time to update you guys on what's been going on since I haven't posted in a week. Jarvis was actually sent to my house today! It's expected to arrive around Monday or Tuesday, and our reunion will be truly epic. I've also been training my alt Vulka in SWTOR. In case you forget, she's my Sith Marauder. She's level 25 now and is on Tatooine. I've also been playing a lot of Force Unleashed II lately for no apparent reason. I got a purple crystal in the game, so I'm super pumped about that. I finished the Hunger Games series over the past weekend, and was thinking of reviewing the series as a whole, but I'm not sure. The book ended EXACTLY how I wanted it to end! Also, we'll be applying for NYCC (New York Comic Con) Press Passes this year! So we're really excited about that. And oh yeah...
IT'S CHAZZ'S BIRTHDAY TOMORROW!!!!! So make sure to wish him a happy birthday either via twitter or facebook or comment or whatever. Also, make his wish come true and take a few seconds to fill out his shiny poll on the right!
Ok, so I'll see you (and Jarvis) very soon!
